Saturday 15th February
Dear Room 2
Dear Room 2
I'm writing to tell you about this awesome adventure that I had on Saturday. I went with my family to investigate Sawcut Gorge, about an hour north of Kaikoura. It's like a giant crack that has been cut down through the rock. We had to drive down a gravel road for about 12 kilometres to get to the start of the walk. First we had to walk up a shallow river bed crossing the river lots of times. The rock is really white and it has been worn smooth by the river. Crossing the river and boulder hopping is really fun. When we reached the main part of the gorge we were all really surprised at how deep it was. I think it's amazing that water can cut through rock like that. On our way back out we discovered a deep swimming hole. That was the best part of the whole day. SPLASH!
Write it like a postcard back to the class as if you were away from class.
How to get there
